Carl Newhouse

Carl Eugene Newhouse, 84, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1940, to the late Carl and Helen Newhouse.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and faith touched everyone who knew him. He was a lifelong member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and found great joy in his church family.

Carl shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carolyn Newhouse. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith.

He is survived by his three daughters: Carla Harris, Regina Fridley, and Deborah Jarrett. Carl was the proud grandfather of Melissa Salyers (Nathan Salyers), Joshua McGinnis (Cierra McGinnis), Brandon Harris, Brittany Casto (JC Casto), Zachary Fridley, William Jaxson Mullins, and William Mullins III. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jace Casto, Caroline Barron, Madden Casto, Amos McGinnis, and Memphis McGinnis. 

He is also survived by his brother, Robert Newhouse; sister-in-law, Shirley Newhouse; and extended family, Cathy Sanford, Allison Chapman, Nick Chapman, and William Mullins II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Newhouse; his sister, Dolores Atkins, and her husband, James Atkins.

Carl will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering faith, and the deep love he had for his family. He enjoyed simple pleasures, cherished time spent with loved ones, and lived each day with gratitude and grace.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 1 pm at Elk Funeral & Cremation Service, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave, Charleston, WV 25302, with Pastor Travis Bradley officiating. A visitation with the family will take place from 12 pm (noon) to 1 pm, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, 5233 Rocky Fork Rd, Cross Lanes, WV 25313.

Though he will be deeply missed, Carl's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
