George T. Ringwald, 74, of Charleston, West Virginia, died on November 7, 2025, while a patient at Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1951, in the Bronx of New York City. He spent his early childhood in New York and moved to West Virginia in the late 1960s. He worked many years at Union Carbide Corporation while living in New York and in West Virginia. At one time, George had aspirations of being a Priest or a State Trooper. He spent most of his working career with Union Carbide and its affiliates. After retirement, he worked for a while for Capital City Auction. He and his wife, Christina, met through a mutual friend and were married almost 13 years before his passing.
He loved pets, especially horses, having worked on a horse farm during his early years. He never knew a stranger and never complained of being sick, although in the last fourteen months of his life, he battled one illness after another. He was a very humble, very outgoing, and sometimes a very shy individual. He had a big heart and was a big giver.
He loved being a member of the Kanawha City Lions Club, where he was active for 41 years, earning many club awards. Lion Club members were very important to George. He was proud of the many award pins that he earned, and proudly wore them on his Lions Club vest. Working in the Lions Club Annual Craft Show, ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmas time, and picking up litter to keep MacCorkle Ave. clean were just a few of the projects George took great pride in while serving his 41 years. He was also a born-again Christian, loving gospel music along the way.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Herman Ringwald, and his Mother, Hazel Ringwald. He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Ringwald; Cousin Jeffrey Horning and wife Carol of Garner, NC; Cousin Heather Horning Mohr and husband Scott of Longmont, Colorado; and stepson Jason Feazell.
The family would like to thank the members of the Lions Club for the many years of friendship and support they have shown them, especially during the past fourteen months.
A Service to Honor the Life of George will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at South Park Presbyterian Church, 939 South Park Road, Charleston, with Pastor Eric Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one-half hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Kanawha City Lions Club, P.O. Box 4373, Charleston, WV 25304.
