Herbert Hoover “Herbie” Helmick

Herbert Hoover “Herbie” Helmick, 72, of Charleston, passed away, January 26, 2021.

He was born April 17, 1948 in Charleston to the late Herbert Hoover & Katherine L. Harper Helmick. He was also preceded by his beloved son, John Paul Helmick and sister, Carolyn Ann Akers, niece, Katie Akers.

Herbie was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Class of 1966. Proudly served as a US Marine Corp. veteran of the Viet Nam War and was a pipe fitter.

Herbie is survived by his loving family, wife of 31 years, Felisia Lynn Harkless Helmick, sister, Sharon Mullins of Charleston,  brother, Gary Morrison of Poca, uncle, Jimmy Harper of Charleston, nieces and nephews, Emily and Amy Mullins, Cameron and Cole Morrison, and Michael Akers. Half brothers and sisters, Steve, Brian and Lynn and Pam.

Memorial service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery with military honors by the cemetery honor guard. Gary Morrison officiating
