Jackie Parsons

Jackie Roger Parsons, 85, of South Charleston, West Virginia, died peacefully in his sleep on July 6, 2026. He had been battling Parkinson’s for a number of years but his battle is over.

A graduate of Sissonville High School, he grew up in the area and was proud of his “country boy” background. Jackie retired from Lowe’s in 2009. He was a lifetime Nazarene and was currently a member of the Nitro Church of the Nazarene.

He was preceded in death by his parents Okey and Virgie Parsons. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy Parsons, son Scott Parsons (Karen) of Kentucky, and his children Elisabeth and Wesley; daughter Cheryl Barnes of Teays Valley and her children Erica and Brooke; stepson Derrick Sigmon (Gayle Midkiff) of Charleston; stepdaughter April Scarberry of Cross Lanes and her children Chris, Caidyn, Mikey, Nevaeh, and Eric.

Jackie is also survived by his sister Sue Gillispie of Hurricane; brothers Jerry (Janie) of Charleston, and Philip (Gigi) of Cross Lanes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Elk Funeral & Cremation Service, 2001 Pennsylvania Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302, with a funeral service immediately following at 3 pm with Reverend John Prichard officiating.
