Joyce Samples Fowler passed  away on August 2, 2017, at the age of 67, surrounded by her family. She was born June 29, 1950, in Charleston, the daughter of Orid Clay Samples and Ela Areta Walker.
She had a vibrant personality and showed intense love and compassion. She spent many years of her life working with the public which she enjoyed. She loved talking with people and helping when she could. She collected many good friends throughout her life that she cared deeply about and tried to keep in touch with. She loved music, tending her flower garden, feeding and watching the birds, working around her house and caring for her dog.  You could say she was a trend setter because she loved coloring long before it was popular. She has many beautiful pictures that she placed in albums and have been framed and displayed in the homes of her family. She spent an enormous amount of time with her bible and in prayer. She loved the Lord.
She was truly a wonderful, unique woman. Her great-niece described her as having a fiery temper, a generous heart, and called everyone doll. She is deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. If you had the pleasure of knowing her and calling her friend your life has been enriched, and you will have memories of love and laughter to keep with you.
Her last days were spent quietly with her son and immediate family. She was a mother to Eric Vaughn Fowler, a sister to Joan Hunter, aunt to Carla Long and Angie Kaluk, great-aunt to Clay Cline, Zac Long, Ariel Long, and Cody Kaluk, and great-great-aunt to Alex Brady and Rowan Rebstock. We love you Nana.
In accordance with her wishes, there was no memorial service.  If you wish to honor her memory, you can choose to make a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
