Kathryn Anne Mccormick

March 25, 1947 — January 3, 2019

Kathryn Anne McCormick,71, of South Charleston entered the gates of Heaven on January 3, 2019. She was born to Dorsey McCormick and Laura Anne Smith on March 25, 1947 at McMillan Hospital. She was the eldest of three children. Surviving are her two siblings, Jim McCormick and Rosemary Cardenas. Mother of five children Elizabeth “Liz” Welch, James Cowie III, Tim Cowie, Laura Martin and Everett Denver Martin III. She was blessed with eight creative, thoughtful, and loving grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She always hoped some of them would become nurses like her, and they did. She is also survived by her best friend and partner in crime “Jack the Dog”, and dear friend Jan Stevens. She was a devoted member of the Bible Center Church and cherished the friendships she made there. Kathy was a 1985 graduate of the Marshall University School of Nursing. She worked and traveled as a nurse for over 30 years. Nine of those years were spent working in Southern California, where she enjoyed reading cook books on the beach, and watching her youngest son learn to surf. She returned to West Virginia over 24 years ago when her grandchildren began entering the world. A skilled chef that was always in demand, she fed thousands over her lifetime. A wonderful sense of humor, animal lover, talented decorator, a Kennedy family historian, and loved a warm cup of coffee and a soft blanket on a rainy day. She always sang while driving and because of her love for Suzann she knew every word to every Back Street Boy song. She was loved and will be missed by many of the lives she has touched during her lifetime.
