Rachel H. White, 99, of Charleston went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2018.
She was born September 17, 1918, near Summersville, West Virginia, the daughter of Lee and Ona Herold. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick James White Jr, her daughter Barbara Ann Keney, her sisters Helen Barnett and Ruth Lee Walker, and her brothers Dr. William Herold and Dr. Paul Herold.
Rachel was a 75-year resident of Charleston and during that time, worked as a sales associate in many stores including Galperin Jewelry and Stone and Thomas Department Store. Her years of experience working in the fine China and Silverware Department gained her recognition as a knowledgeable consultant in choosing the correct weight and patterns for fine dinnerware. She was a long-time standing and dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Her activities with the Church Women’s Club formed many friendships and her cooking skills in preparing Coconut Cream Pies were enjoyed by all.
Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her son, Frederick James White III (Barbara Jean), granddaughters Cheryl Beirne (Jason), Cindy Hutchings (fiancé Shawn Davis), great-granddaughters Allison Beirne and Mia Davis, and great-grandsons Luke Beirne and Shawn Davis Jr.
A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charleston at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 1, 2018. Immediately following the service a meal will be provided and everyone is invited to attend. Elk Funeral Home is honored to serve the White Family.
