Thomas Shaffer

Thomas Leon Shaffer, 80, of Big Chimney, West Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2026, at home. Thomas was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on July 12, 1945, to the late Dorsel and Altha Hughart Shaffer. 

Thomas was an electrician before retiring. He was a former member of the West Virginia Army National Guard. 

Along with his parents, Thomas is also preceded in death by his brothers Larry, Jack, Danny, and Harold Shaffer. 

He is survived by his brother Joe Shaffer; sisters Carol Knupp, Jerri Newhouse; daughter Jamie Doughty; granddaughter Grace Doughty, and his girlfriend and partner of over 45 years, Kathy Cantley. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Elk Funeral & Cremation Service, 2001 Pennsylvania Ave, Charleston, WV, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM.
